After a commendable performance in Dor, Ayesha Takia is looking forward to playing a double role in Anurag Kashyap’s No Smoking. "I am playing a double role for the first time and it was an amazing experience. I am playing John Abraham’s wife and his secretary and both are diverse characters," says Ayesha.
"I am looking forward to a lot of films. There’s Ahmed Khan’s Fool and Final where I play a fun loving, bubbly girl who constantly chews gum and wears hip-hop baggy pants and has a red lock in her hair. Paresh Rawal is my uncle and we speak in a Bihari accent and we are petty thieves who are always getting caught. It was fun doing the film since we were constantly laughing and having fun. It was more of a picnic. We were also gossiping on the sets," she adds.
Citing an incident in the film Ayesha says, "I was made to wear a super girl frock and it looked so ridiculous. I refused to come out of the van and came out with a towel wrapped over the frock. All of us had to wear such outfits, yet we were straight faced during the shoot. Otherwise, everybody was laughing all the time".
This is Ayesha’s second film with Shahid Kapoor. "I did Dil Maange More with him earlier but before that I did my first Complan commercial with him as a child. We were the Complan girl and the Complan boy. Shahid is good. He’s young, fresh and has a lot of talent and above all, he’s a good dancer," says Ayesha. The actress who received a lot of critical acclaim for her roles is now looking forward to a host of films.
"There’s De Taali with Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani. It is a film about friendship. I have Rohit Shetty’s Sunday opposite Ajay Devgan which is a full-on commercial film. It’s a thriller with comedy interspersed in it. This will be my first entirely commercial venture. I am also doing Aladdin but have no idea about it now since the producers have changed. It’s a rocking script. I wanted to do the film since Sujoy is a close friend," she reveals.
She was also supposed to be doing Aamir Khan’s next venture. "No, it didn’t work out. There were a lot of differences of opinion. He came back to me for the character but I refused it since he had doubts about me earlier and I don’t like to work with people who have doubts about me. The director was Murugudas from the South," she clarifies.
