With Jhoom Barabar Jhoom failing at the box office, the prospects of newcomer Ruslaan Mumtaz-starrer Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar (MP3) have suddenly shot up. So much so that theatres that had relegated this Robby Grewal’s venture to the morning slot have now pushed it back to prime time. "Not much was expected from MP3. But with Jhoom Barabar Jhoom flopping badly, the chances of MP3 scoring bonus points stand bright. Distributors had practically given up hopes for MP3 the day Shaad Ali’s flick hit the theatres. But luck has succeeded in turning the table in its favour," says trade analyst Taran Adarsh. What’s more is that Ruslaan’s fan mail has not only increased manifold but 25 fan communities for him have been formed on a website. "I just could not believe it. It was only when my friends told me about it that I logged on to the website. It was here that I learnt about the communities that my fans had made just for me," he says. Ruslaan says that however much he wished, he genuinely has not found time to interact with his fans. "But I do intend to do that soon," he says.
"I think the school and college-going audience wanted an actor who would touch their hearts in a sweet way. The story of MP3 does just that. Also the slot of an actor with a chocolate looks and lover boy image is lying vacant and I think I have occupied that slot now," he adds. But personally, Ruslaan does not want to be bogged down by any particular image. "I am an actor and I want to prove my versatility. I want to try my hand playing as many different characters as possible. I have a long way to go," he says. With MP3 having appealed to the audience, Ruslaan has bagged quite a few offers too. "I will talk about them only when I sign on the dotted line," he concludes. |
