Konkona Sen Sharma likes diverse roles |

With Metro releasing on May 11, the talented Konkona Sen Sharma says she wants to try diverse roles. “I want to do challenging roles. I’ve come here to act. It is good to do intense roles but at the same time dangerous too. You have to break the mould sometime or the other and try different roles or people will typecast you,” says Konkana. The Omkara actress is 18 films old and yet does not relate much to Bollywood. “I don’t feel that I am a part of Bollywood. I never took up my films as Bollywood ventures. I’ve always seen it from a film-to-film point of view. I have lived for the moment,” she says. About her role in Metro, the actor says, “My role carries the tag line ‘30 and still a virgin’. I like to do such roles but people don’t give me a chance.”
 Konkana adds about her character, “There’s a scene in Metro where my character tries to wear contact lenses and they keep falling off. She is imaginative and weird. She sees two people talking on the road and imagines one of them as her husband. It is about a girl who is genuinely worried in life. She hasn’t found anyone to get married to and feels she is going to die someday hence visits shaadi.com and takes stupid decisions in an attempt to find someone. However, in the process, she learns about herself and ultimately finds love,” reveals the actress.
About director Anuraag Basu she says, “I always wanted to work with Anuraag. Though I had not even seen his films Murder or Gangster. I instinctively liked him when I met him. This was when he approached me for this role. He gave me a narration of all the characters in the film which gave me a complete idea of what it is all about and what I am doing in it. We shared good vibes during the shooting of the film.”
Was it because of the Bengali connection? “Not all Bengalis are good filmmakers,” she laughs and says. About her co-stars Konkana says, “Shilpa plays my elder sister in the film and Kangana plays my roommate. Irrfan is a genius and I always wanted to work with him. He also helped me a lot during the shoot. I can perform better when someone who’s so good is working with me,” says the Page 3 girl.
