Lata Mangeshkar proved her loyalty to music yet again. When she was called to Christie’s for auctioning her brand, Swaranjali jewellery recently, she was in the middle of recording for her new album with T-Series Saadgi (which is set to release after a gap of 17 years). Not only did her music composer see to it that she could record the song over there, but what’s creditable is that she recorded the song in flat 15 minutes.
Usha seen in film after ’72
After a hiatus of 35 years Usha Uthup will be seen onscreen as a singer and performer in Anjan Dutt’s Bow Barracks Forever. The last time she was seen on screen was when she shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in Bombay to Goa that was released in 1972.
When Usha heard the script, she got very emotional. She has learnt music from Anglo-Indians residing at Bow Barracks in Kolkata and is aware of their plight. She started her career as a singer performing in various nightclubs in Kolkata with friends and colleagues from the Anglo-Indian community.
Now she hopes with her extended cameo in the film she will get more offers in Hindi cinema. |
