 Linda Arsenio, who made her debut with Kabir Khan’s Kabul Express, has just signed her second Hindi venture — Vikram Bhatt’s Mumbai Salsa to be directed by Manoj Tyagi. The film marks the launch of seven other newcomers. "So I am the one who is a veteran here," Linda says with a smile. Linda describes Tyagi’s film as a comedy, adding, "I play this American who has come to Mumbai to pursue her studies and career but what she comes across are huge cultural differences. She is also looking out for a romantic interest. And thus begins her tryst with the opposite sex. But everything in the film is shown with humour."
Linda says that she is making sincere efforts to get familiar with the Hindi language. Speaking a few words she asks, "How does my Hindi sound?" She laughs and says, "Can I pass it off?" She adds, "I want to learn Hindi because it interests me and not because I need to know the language for professional reasons. I am basically interested in learning various languages from different countries. I like to get familiar with their culture and tradition and learn about the customs and the rituals that the people living there follow."
She continues, "I loved Manoj’s script. The minute I heard the narration, I knew that I had to be a part of this film. Compared to Kabul Express where I played an American journalist who gets trapped in Afghanistan, my role here is full of fun and play." Linda has just completed a Malayalam film called Pazikassa Raja with southern superstar Mammooty. "Pazikassa Raja is about the fight between the Indian kings who were ruled by the British. I play the role of a British girl who falls in love with Mammooty." Linda has just bought herself a home in Mumbai’s Versova area. "I have bought a home so that I can focus on my work here. I want to settle here eventually," she concludes. |
