Actress Manisha Koirala now wants to shift her attention towards direction. Few months ago, Manisha trained herself in the techniques of filmmaking in New York and is now all set to get into direction. "I always found filmmaking very exciting, that’s why I am taking the plunge. I currently have three subjects in mind and the research work on one has already been completed," said Manisha. She is planning a film based on prostitution. Explaining her choice of subject, Manisha said, "My aunt Anuradha Koirala works for an NGO called Maaiti Nepal, which helps rescue Nepali girls from India, who become prostitutes after coming here." When asked why she feels this film will work when so many others on the same topic have already been made, Manisha responded, "These films have depicted only a part of the reality. I have met these girls and after interacting with them I realised that there’s much more to their lives than what is shown in films. I am going to portray that on screen. This is not a small issue and if I can bring out something better from my film, why should I not give it a try?"
Manisha is still unsure when she would start shooting for the film. "I don’t know. I am still looking for a proper peg. I have to get my acting career back on track. That’s why I am giving a lot of thought to the movies I sign," she said. "I’m planning to do fewer films but good work and simultaneously research for my own projects," added the actress, who once gave superb performances in movies like Bombay, Agnisakshi and Khamoshi. The actress is now waiting for Sirf to hit the screens where she plays a business woman married to a business tycoon, played by Kay Kay. "The film is about human relations. I liked the script and so I decided to do the film," she said. |
