 Rituparna Sengupta, who has five films in her kitty, is not satisfied with the way things have been shaping up in the industry. "I have good roles in decent films, but I am yearning to do a typical commercial venture. I want to perform an item number too. I have been a dancer all my life and perform on stage every year, but Bollywood has not yet tapped my dancing capabilities. Few Bengali directors have approached me with subjects which are based on dance," says the actor.
She even has a celebrity dance show named after her on ETV Bangla titled Ritumaila Jhoom Tara Tara. "It felt so good when they mentioned that it was named after me. Celebrities like Mithun Chakraborty, Javed Jaffrey, Jaya Prada and Prabhudeva will be performing different numbers while I will perform on the final day of the show," she explains.
The actor has bagged a film with Sunny Deol titled Guru Dakshina and Kalpana Lajmi’s film tentatively titled Mujhe Rang De. She is currently shooting for Rajatesh Nayar’s Sirf which is about human relations. "My character in Sirf belongs to Jabalpur and is married to the character played by Parveen Dabaas. Though his character, who works for an advertising agency, is a nice guy with no vices, I keep suspecting that he is having an affair, but our misunderstandings get cleared finally. I have danced with Parveen in this film and believe me he is a good dancer." About her interaction with Manisha Koirala, she says, "I also have an interesting scene in the film with Manisha. She is an amazing actor. I have grown up watching her films."
After this film Rituparna has R. Mohan’s Gauri opposite Atul Kulkarni, Saab Chai Paani with Sonu Sood, Anjan Dutt’s BBD and Love Game with Randeep Hooda. She also has Nicha Aasman with Madhavan which is postponed now. "My film "Anuraanan which is in Hindi and Bengali will be releasing soon. I am also doing one English film titled Hidden which is almost complete now," she wraps up. |
