Sameera Reddy says I didn’t ask to be promoted |

 Sameera Reddy is very excited these days as she is balancing commercial projects as well as offbeat films. The actress coming film Fool ‘N’ Final is all set for release. Besides this, she is doing two mainstream films with Buddhadev Dasgupta and a short film on AIDS awareness with Mira Nair.
She excitedly talks about her film on AIDS titled Migration. "It is a very hard hitting film. The manner in which we worked for the film was very systematic. Two days prior to the shoot, we were given a timetable and everything went according to that. There are four directors working together for it: Mira, Vishal Bhardwaj, Farhan Akhtar and Shankar Shivan. I am working with actors like Irrfan Khan and Shiney Ahuja for the first time. To get maximum exposure, the short film will be screened with every new release.
Sameera, whose talents came to the fore as a serious actress with Buddhadev Dasgupta’s Kalpurush, talks about working with the director for the second time. "Buddhada’s new project is called The Voyeurs. This film showcases the problems created by mobile phone cameras which people use to shoot just about anything. It deals with the effects of this on the lives of other people. The movie puts forward the question of what is right and what is wrong," she said. The shooting of The Voyeurs has just been completed and the film is making its way to the Toronto Film Festival. After that, it will be screened at Berlin and finally released in August.
About Fool ‘N’ Final the actress says, "My image in the film is quite different. Though my character is not exactly the sati savitri type, yet she is a soft person. She is actually the emotional angle of the film. It is really different from what I have usually played before."
She adds, "The film is a paisa vasool entertainer. There are 14 characters and each has a different story. There is a lot of energy in the film. Ahmed Khan is one of my closest friends and when he approached me, I didn’t even ask him what the role was all about. My role has not been promoted much because I wanted it that way." |
