Geeta should accept that I play the main lead," says Sayali Bhagat who makes her debut with Hasnain Hyderabadwala and Raksha Mistry’s The Train. There are already stories doing the rounds about how Sayali Bhagat and Geeta Basra, the two leading ladies, could not stand each other during the shoot of the film.
Also there are stories that Geeta is disappointed that Sayali, who seems to be everywhere including the video and promos of The Train, has sidelined her. Sayali clarifies, "The Indian audiences like to believe that the one who walks away with the hero is the female lead in the film. The character I play in The Train is the one who gets Emraan Hashmi in the end. I am the main heroine of the film. Thus the videos and promos have been showing Emraan and me and there’s nothing wrong with that." Sayali says that the main reason she accepted The Train was because she was playing the lead in the film. "Why can’t Geeta accept this fact rather than feel disappointed about it? Also I think her role has turned out exactly the way it was narrated to her. There’s a good one-hour focus on Emraan’s relationship with Geeta in the film. I don’t see any reason for her to feel let down."
Buzz also had it that Sayali had a tough time getting along with director Raksha Mistry, who is known to be outspoken and upfront when it comes to work. Sayali denies that Raksha and she did not get along on the sets. "That’s not true at all. Raksha is very clear-cut about what she wants in the shot. She is very crisp in her words and expects you to obey her. But often a frank and honest nature is misunderstood and that can put an artiste at loggerheads with her."
About the argument between Geeta and Raksha, Sayali says, "At the end of the day whatever instructions Raksha wants you to follow are for the film’s benefit. Compared to Raksha’s vast experience as an assistant director, Geeta is just one film old, so I think Geeta should have just done as she was told. I always remember that the director will not do anything to make her film appear shoddy." Producer Shyam Bajaj, the backbone of The Train, has signed Sayali for two more films. "Hasnain and Raksha are the directors for one of them. I am yet to work on the details of the second film," says Shyam. |
