Bollywood film "Eklavya: The Royal Guard", in which Amitabh played the lead role, will be India's entry for the Oscar award in the foreign film category. The film was elected by 11 jury members from four other movies, said Vinod Pandey, Chairman of the Film Federation of India. The story of the film "Eklavya" deals with a royal guard, who is aware of the well-guarded secrets of a royal family and protects them like his forefathers did over generations.

The film is directed by famous filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra and it also stars Saif Ali Khan, who plays a prince and uncovers the truth about his life. The movie, although failed at the box office, received very good reviews from critics in India. This is the third film by Vinod Chopra that has been selected as India's entry for Oscar award. The film still needs to go through another round to be eligible for a nominee. All the films are narrowed down to five nominees by the US Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Although Bollywood is the biggest film industry as far as the number of movies produced each year is concerned, it hasn't yet received even one Oscar award.
