Aryan Vaid almost lost his hand during shooting |

 I almost lost my right arm in that near-fatal accident," Aryan Vaid says somberly. Recalling the incident Aryan explains, "We were shooting at a hill station that is an hour’s drive from Chandigarh. Dharmendra plays the role of a boxing coach in the film and I am being trained under him. He is shown as a hard task master as a coach and in a bid to toughen me further as a boxer, he tells me to run parallel along with a train. The train was given the signal to start and I, who was right next to the tracks, had to run along with it."
Aryan adds, "As soon as Anil Sharma said ‘action’ I began to run. The train too moved along with me. It was one of those mini trains that move at slow speed. I ran a bit fast and was ahead of the train, but very close to the tracks. I then slowed down and was not aware that the train was right behind me. Before I managed to move away from the tracks, the edge of the engine came and hit my right shoulder and I fell on the ground with a loud thud. Dharmendraji, Anil and all the unit members rushed towards me to see if I was not injured seriously. Thankfully I fell away from the tracks."
Displaying his sense of humour Aryan adds, "Maybe I was trying to be stylish in front of the crowd. I wanted to leave an impression, I guess!" Aryan reveals that a huge crowd of 10,000 people had thronged on the sets to watch Dharmendra and Sunny Deol. "The North Indians are crazy about the Deols. I had only heard about it till I saw it myself." Ask him if he played a negative role in Apne and Aryan says, "I would not call it a negative role. Yes, the film shows my character in grey light who rubs Dharmendra the wrong way. He coaches Bobby who challenges to teach me a lesson."
Aryan admits that his role is no great shakes in Apne. "The film belongs to the Deols. After all this is for the first time that all the three Deols — Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby are coming together. Apne gives me a chance to be noticed and fetch me the kind of work I am looking for," he adds. |
