Bappi Lahiri, who has found renewed success after his compositions for Taxi No 9211 which were runaway hits, says he was sentimental when he recorded a song for Abhishek Bachchan in Guru. “Years ago I had sung for Abhishek’s father Amitji. It was a song titled Aana Jaana in the film Geraftaar. When I was called by A.R. Rahman to sing for Abhishek, I immediately went down memory lane, to almost 30 years ago, when I had sung for his father,” said the versatile composer-singer. Recently he became the second of the three generations of Lahiris to record songs with the nightingale Lata Mangeshkar. His father Aparesh Lahiri had recorded with Lata earlier. Now, Bappi’s son Bappa too will record with the singer.
