New zelanad was one of the first places to choose whenever Bollywood filmmakers thought of going for a foreign locations. This tendenly lasted some time until they came across of lack of government incentives in comparison with many other countries. According to Radio New Zealand, a production company named Karun based in Christchurch used to work for about 27 Bollywood movies a year. But in the past year it only managed one film after the Bollywood people stayed away citing lack of government incentives.
Now an announcement made in Wellington which says New Zealand and India will come to an agreement on film co-production, seems to be paving a good way for Bollywood films. New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark, in a statement, said "The aim is to expand and facilitate co-production to benefit film makers in both countries, and to develop cultural and economic exchanges." New Zealand Finance Minister cullen said that with this agreement filmmakers would be able to pool resources to make films and it would bring some benefits for both countries culturally and financially.
