Pakistan actor-turned-director Omar Sharif is going to debut Bollywood as a director with a comedy film titled Tum Mere Ho. According to the producer of this film the film has nothing to do with the rivalry between India and Pakistan and mostly goes in a comedy track. He also adds that they want to build a peaceful relation between the two countries and the film is their first step on the way to put it in action.
This is the first time of this kind that a Pakistani director directs a film with an all-Indian cast. The film, which is going to be shot in Hyderabad and then Chicago is supposed to feature Rajesh Khanna. But the film may not release in Pakistan as Bollywood film releases are banned in Pakistan.
After the war between the two countries over Kashmir in 1965, Pakistan governmet has banned all Indian films within the country. But Bollywood films have a great audience in pakistan and even though the films are banned there, the people yet find ways to enjoy their favorite movies through cable channels and pirated DVDs.
Omar Sharif who is a dramatist is said to have considerable following among the middle class people of India for his plays. Hopefully, this film would create a good relation between the two countries.
