The deluge of 26/7 that had crippled Mumbai is a still fresh memory especially for those who were not able to make it home and were forced to stay back at unfamiliar places for the whole night. Mohan Sharma’s film tells a true story about a couple who took shelter at a café in the city. It was the first time that they met and the film shows how love blossomed between two persons that night. "I was the one who witnessed their love story because that night, I too had taken shelter at the cafe," smiles Sharma.
Since Sharma had personally been present that night, penning the love story came fairly easily to him. It was recreating the dreaded floods for shooting the film that was difficult. "We had a tough time creating those knee length floods once again. I remember the water had reached such heights that it was difficult to wade. We had to create a similar situation for my film and it was not easy. We had to call for more than 40 water tanks and recreate the floods. I felt that I had visited that day once again."
Sharma said that he had used computer graphics to make the scenes appear more authentic. "But most of the scenes have been shot on the sets," he informs.
He completed shooting the film in 20 days flat. "Since the story of my film revolved around the 26/7 floods that had hit Mumbai, I knew that I could finish shooting it within 20 days. Also my film stars newcomers Manish Sahni and Simran Vaid who could dole out bulk dates for my film and we finished the shooting as per the schedule."
Sahni is all geared to release his film on July 26 this year. "I want to release my film the same day that the heavy rains lashed the city so that we don’t forget the lesson mother nature taught us," he says. |
