Much has been spoken about Salman Khan’s first Hollywood venture and finally, director Willard Carroll is coming to India with his film Marigold — An Adventure in India. The film, though ready for almost a year now, is finally releasing on July 27 in India. The film opens with a dance sequence involving Salman Khan and his dance troupe, with Taj Mahal as the backdrop.
William, who has directed Sean Connery and Angelina Jolie in Playing By Heart, fell in love with Bollywood films after watching the Salman Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerjee starrer Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. This is also music director trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy’s first Hollywood project.
When asked what inspired him to make a film based in India, William says, "I hope Marigold is seen as a celebration of India, its heightened style of filmmaking and most importantly, its people. I first came to India four years ago and immediately fell in love with the country and its movies."
He adds, "In the six months after returning to the US, I watched more than 100 Indian movies on DVD. The best of them have a spirit and an energy that reminded me of the great Hollywood musicals of the 40s and 50s. The film stars Ali Larter, of The Final Destination fame in the role of Marigold Lexton along with Nandana Sen." |
