Sanjay dutt’s bail plea came for hearing in the morning and the TADA court has granted interim bail in the 1993, Mumbai serial blast case. The court adopted a common parameter that those convicts who have already undergone half of the period of sentence awarded by the trial court were eligible for bail. The conditions for granting the bail are Sanju has to deposit his passport in the court and he has to report Special Task Force of CBI in Mumbai once in a month. Sanjay dutt is presently in Yerrawada jail and petitioned for a bail plea in Supreme Court when the divisional court rejected his bail plea. It is said that he also mentioned in the petition that he already finished his conviction term of 18 months, which accounts to 1/4th of his jail term i.e. 14 years of rigorous imprisonment. The actor was arrested on November 28, 2006.(more below)
Expressing relief over the courts order, the actor’s sister and Member of Parliament Priya Dutt said “ we are happy that he will return to the home soon and we hope for a better tomorrow “. She also thanked all well-wishers of Sanju and said that it were their wishes which were heard by god and helped her brother to return to his home. May be it will take 1-2 days for Sanjay dutt to get released as the jail superintendent of Yerrawada jail must receive the bail copy given by the court. |
