Suniel Shetty has managed to rope in Die Hard stunt coordinator Brad Martin for his forthcoming film, Mission Istanbul. The film to be directed by Apoorva Lakhia, will bring together Abhishek Bachchan and Viveik Oberoi for the first time after Yuva and Abhishek’s marriage to Viveik’s former love Aishwarya Rai. Shetty’s Popcorn Entertainment and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji are jointly producing this action thriller and it also stars Bobby Deol, Tusshar Kapoor and Shabbir Ahluwalia.
The female leads haven’t been finalised yet. Sources say, "Suniel has assembled together top line Hollywood technicians and FX specialists for his action thriller. He has had talks with Brad Martin of Die Hard 4.0 who has earlier been involved with the stunt teams of Spider-Man 3, Mr and Mrs Smith and Poseidon. The budget of the film as of now is around Rs 35-40 crores and might be increased a little more. Suneil wants to give the film a universal appeal where it comes to hardcore action and is willing to spend as much as possible on it. With desi cinema viewers all across the globe being exposed to edge-of-the-seat action sequences of high calibre, they are often seen giving thumbs down to action scenes in Bollywood films. Suniel wants to give them the best."
The film is based on the Al Qaeda’s terrorism network and is scheduled to be shot in Afghanistan, Srinagar, Mumbai and Istanbul. If they find it difficult to get permissions for shooting in Afghanistan, then there are plans to erect a massive set replicating Afghanistan in Jaisalmer for canning those portions. Shooting for this mega project starts from October 1, later this year. When contacted Suniel, told us to wait for an official announcement on this matter. |
