Bobby's look and striking presence in Shaad Ali's Jhoom Barabar Jhoom are being much talked-about. Not too many people know that the original choice for the parallel hero’s role in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was John Abraham. However, John quietly opted out of the project. "He was unsure of which way his role would go. The film already had Abhishek Bachchan signed on. John was well aware of Abhishek’s close equations with both director Shaad Ali and the Yashraj banner. No way was he going to allow himself to be sidelined into the second-lead category," says a source.
This is where Bobby, in need of big banners and a hand-up for his career, came in "Bobby needed a Yashraj film at this point. He was ensured that his role wouldn't suffer because of Abhishek's presence. And to his credit Shaad Ali kept his word. Though he's extremely close to Abhishek, Shaad didn't once allow his friendship to come in the way of giving Bobby a fair deal. In fact, the reclusive Bobby had a ball shooting with Abhishek and Preity. Jhoom Barabar Jhoom will be his comeback films." |

He adds, "I think horses are the most majestic creatures on earth. They have a certain air about them. I like the way they gallop with full speed. Even horses are loyal to their masters and that is one quality I admire about them." |

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's eagerly awaited romantic opus Sawariya featuring the most eagerly awaited pair of the year Ranbir Raj Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, had been scheduled for a 2007 Diwali release from some months ago.
But now the film may be held over by a couple of weeks. According to those close to the production, the meticulous movie maker doesn't want to take any chances with creating the most perfect young love story, even if it means delaying the film by a week or more.
But what about the coveted Diwali release?
"Bhansali doesn't care about that. For him making Sawariya as flawless as his earlier works, and at the same time moving many steps ahead is more important. He won't compromise with a single frame just to get into the theatres on time," says a source close to the director. |

He is 64, she is 34. And they are in love. Cheeni Kum is as simple as this. But wait a while before you start indulging in the thoughts of a desi Autumn in New York or a new age Lamhe. Because when a celebrated adman calls the shots, there is little wonder that the film will end up being as unexpected as you can imagine. R Balakrishnan, the national creative head of Lowe and director of this Amitabh Bachchan-and Tabu-starrer, however, rubbishes such thoughts. “In Cheeni, I’ve tried to be as Yash Chopra as possible,” laughs Balki, as he is lovingly called in the mad ad world. |
