...combining Celebrity couple names as a gimmick? This has been going on for quite awhile but who thought it was a good gimmick to combine celebrity couples names? Brangelina, Bennifer, TomKat? It seems a bit rediculous and disrespectful.

Yeah. I agree. It started with Bennifer. Now the mags use it on most couples. I think it is ssssooo stupid and ridiculous. They do it to sell the mags. The most stupidest one is TomKat. Katie is OK. But I can't stand TOM CRUISE! I refuse to see any of his movies! Now a real man is someone like George Clooney!

it all started with jennifer (the long name) and Ben (the short name) to save time and space on the magazine cover the put "bennifer" instead. hope this answers your question.

The whole fad started when some dead-souled celebrity magazine writer stopped doing blow in the bathroom long enough to coin the name "Brangelina." Celebrity gossip writers are herd animals by nature and soon *every* couple was seeing their names butchered and mashed into some syrupy-cute concatenation. It's idiotic, it's annoying, and if I ever find out who's responsible for starting the "baby bump" phrase I will punch that person's heart straight through their chest.
