I am a typical "pear" shape, carrying my extra skin & weight in oversized hips & thighs. I prefer to wear bikini tops because my upper body and abs look just fine, but I wear them with shorty board shorts. The shorts sit nicely on my big hips, just below my "fashionable" T-shaped belly button (my husband told me this). The shorts hide the extra little rolls on my hips, and the flab on my thighs. This works well, because I am maintaining an 80 pound weight loss, and I feel great about it and want to flaunt my "new" body while hiding the bits that will never be toned again without surgery. I'm okay with giving up a little bit in the sun department and having nothing to be self-conscious about. On the other hand, function matters a lot - if I'm swimming for exercise it has to be a one-piece. If I'm going on a boat or scuba diving, I like two-pieces so that I don't have to 100% undress just to use the head (bathroom on a boat). If I am JUST laying in the sun for the exposure, I wear the smallest bikini I can.
