Default what is the origin of the French Bordeaux
wine classification system ? Bordeaux wines are classified into first to fifth growth wines. There are only 5 first growth wines. Why did this classification come into being and why is it still in place

The Bordeaux classification system was introduced in 1855. More information is in the attached link.
