opposite big stars and in top directors’ films. She is currently busy shooting for Dharani’s ‘Kuruvi,’ Gautham Vasudeva Menon’s ‘Chennayil Oru Mazhaikalam,’ Radha Mohan’s ‘Abhiyum Nanum’ and in Telugu V.V. Vinayak’s untitled film with Ravitheja and a film to be directed by Puri Jagannath with Prabhas. She says that all these films are expected to be big hits and will take her time till April next.

Trisha besides a glam puss is also known for her acting abilities. Point this out and she counters, ‘Commercial films are for popularity’s sake, films like ‘Abhiyum Nanum’ are for both popularity and also for artistic satisfaction.’ Well Trisha seems to know how to have the cake and eat it too.

One, two, three, jump. One, two, three, turn around…. No, this is not a dance school, but the final day of shooting of Sri Surya Movies’ Bheema, at Prasad Studio. The place is abuzz with technicians and junior dancers. Dance master Brinda is busy teaching some steps to the artistes, while cameraman R.D. Rajasekar reels out instructions to his men.

Even as he watches the proceedings, director Lingusamy talks about the much-hyped Vikram-Trisha starrer. “We are shooting for a dream song featuring the lead pair. We have brought in some dancers from Mumbai. The number composed by Harris Jayaraj is melodious. I’m sure it will be a hit with the audience.”

Brushing aside rumours that he had made major changes to the script, Lingusamy says, “I do not start shooting without completing the script and having it bound. All my assistant directors have copies of the script. And we stick to it. The production of the film got delayed due to various reasons. It’s got nothing to do with the script. Anyway, we’re close to wrapping it up.” Giving details about the song sequences, the director says, “One song was shot in Switzerland. It took four days for completion and has come out well. For another number, we went to Tuticorin. We bought a big ship and changed its interiors for the shoot. The hero comes in five different guises in the film.”

Happy that the film is completed, Vikram says, “I liked the script and was happy to work with director Lingusamy. The film has shaped up well. It has the right dose of sentiment, glamour, music and action. When I saw the film during the dubbing, it was like watching an English film.”

Chipping in, Trisha says, she liked the songs and also the film. “The story revolves around a don. Director Lingusamy has done a good job and made it a wholesome entertainer.”

When one of the biggest combinations come together for a new film, the hype and expectations surrounding the film is normally expected to hit through the roof. Kuruvi sees the comeback of Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Director Dharani who had given Tamil Cinema one of its biggest ever hit film, Ghilli. They come back yet again for another film titled ‘Kuruvi’ where Trisha will again be the heroine of the film.

The film did not have a formal pooja and the shooting for the film was commenced immediately. The shooting for the day was held at a Five Star Hotel in Adayar. The first scene had Vijay praying in front of a Lord Ganesha statue. The scene which also involved comedian Vivek was shot in a very humorous way and is sure to tickle the funny bone of the viewers. Dharani and the whole team were seen around. Dharani was in a very tense mood and was seen taking special care of the proceedings. A couple of foreigners who were staying in the hotel were also made to act in that scene of the film. The shoot for the day was held in a very silent manner with no crowds or media to create confusion in the proceedings.

The shooting went off very well and in a very smooth and light manner. Producer Udayanidhi was also present at the first day of shooting along with his wife. Director Linguasamy and Actress Trisha were also seen at the shoot. Trisha was seen intereacting with the team members in a very cheerful manner. The centre of attraction of course, was our hero Vijay who was looking very youthful and charming. Vivek looked like he had still not yet come out of the ‘Sivaji effect, going by the costumes that he had wore for that particular scene of the film. Vivek had just delivered a blockbuster with Super Star Rajnikanth and here, he is now acting with the Next Super Star Vijay in what promises to be a rollicking film that is expected to push Vijay to the pinnacle of superstardom.

Vijay and Trisha will commence shooting for Kuruvi in Chennai on Thursday.

Considered an auspicious day, the producer Udhayanidhi (grandson of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi) and director Dharani have chosen to shoot some scenes on Thursday.

Dharani, Vijay and music composer Vidyasagar, who came together to create magic on screen with Gilli, are back again for Kuruvi.

Dharani has denied rumors that Kuruvi would be a sequel to Gilli. The film will hit the screens on 14 April, 2008.

It seems luck is smiling always at Trisha. Trisha is blooming and is reining both Telugu and Tamil films. Almost all her films are great hits and every producer is queuing for her dates. Apart from her career she got the most coveted awards from the two state governments. The Tamil Nadu Government honored Trisha with the “Kalaimamani” Award while the Andhra Pradesh government conferred the Nandhi award for this year.

At present she is roped in for a film for the joint venture of Duet Movies and Moser Baer titled Abhiyum Naanum where she plays the daughter role of Prakash Raj. Earlier she was asked to pair up with Prithviraj for the film Vellithirai, but due to call sheet problems she was not to able to sign in for the movie.
